Othala has two moons, Eskaia and Endymion. Eskaia is the bigger one, and the reference point of our calendar. A year is called sais, and a sais has 13 devas (month), which consist of 25 days. The names of the devas are:
01 Saimon (beginning of the year)
02 Kadra (snowy moon)
03 Jaron (spring moon)
04 Hadron (seed moon)
05 Venna (merry moon)
06 Gwion (light moon)
07 Rayda (golden moon)
08 Haimya (harvest moon)
09 Hirmon (berry moon)
10 Nehanda (fall moon)
11 Oltion (mist moon)
12 Eskron (cauldron moon)
13 Berkana (death of year)
The deva Saimon, i.e. the sais, begins with the winter solstice, the spring equinox falls between Jaron and Hadron, the summer solstice is in Rayda and the autumn equinox is in Nehanda.
The name of the last deva, Berkana, and its designation as the 'death of the year' originates from the superstitious thoughts the Church of Cadaris sew in the minds of the othalan people. (Isn't it typical to take the name of a rivaling god(dess) and giving it a negative touch?)
Proverb -> from merry moon to berry moon
(Lovers for one summer, short relationship)
Units and weekdays
sais - year
deva - month
fida - week (~ five ida)
ida - day
01 sais = 13 devae = 65 fidae = 325 idae
01 deva = 05 fidae = 25 idae
01 fida = 05 idae
monday - eskaida
tuesday - endymida
wednesday - wholida
thursday - thurida
friday - cadarida
note: the plural of ida, fida as well as all weekdays is formed through adding an 'e' example: ida - idae, fida - fidae, eskaida - eskaidae
The extraordinary thing about this system is that each weekday is bound to the same date of each month. That means - the first, sixth, eleventh, sixteenth and twentyfirst of every month art eskaidae. Always. Cadaridae can be compared to the christian sundays - signifying an ida of reduced or no labor - depending on seasonal (or political) necessities.
