Nuna
|
A little more than
two feet in height, the nuna is native
to the planet Naboo. This flightless bird is a vigorous
omnivore that feeds mostly on swamp plants. But its long
legs allow it to follow small amphibians, which it snaps
up with its sharp beak. Unlike shaaks, nunas inhabit the
swamps, and only move from one area to the other when the
warm season dries up their usual feeding grounds. Only during
these migrations do the solitary birds band together.
A capable runner, the nuna always flees when faced with
danger. If trapped, the nuna will use its powerful legs
to kick viciously in defense. The nuna's back is lined with
scales but those provide little protection against the many
hunters who seek out the nuna for its tasty meat. Their
high reproductive rate helps the nunas avoid extinction.

Fambaa

Fambaa - these gigantic amphibians are used by
the Gungans for heavy transport.
Das Fambaa ist ein riesiges, schwerfälliges, vierbeiniges
Reptilienwesen des Planeten Naboo. Wie Falumpasets werden
auch Fambaas von den Gungans seit Jahrhunderten als Nutztiere
gehalten. Die Gungans setzen Fambaas überwiegend ein,
um Handelsgüter von oder zu geheimen Treffpunkten mit
Händlern der Naboo zu transportieren. In Kriegszeiten
fällt den Fambaas eine wesentlich wichtigere Rolle zu
– da sie dann die schweren Schild-Generatoren der Gungans
aufs Schlachtfeld führen. Diese werden mit einem Harnisch
auf dem Rücken der riesigen Reptilien befestigt. Aufgrund
ihrer Größe und dank ihrer dicken, schuppigen Haut,
die wie eine Panzerung wirkt, können Fambaas sogar schwaches
Blasterfeuer ablenken.
Im Gegensatz zu ihrem massigen Körper besitzen Fambaas
nur relativ kleine Gehirne, sie sind sehr träge und plump
und das Ausführen selbst einfachster Befehle fällt
ihnen schwer.
Bevor die Gungans sich in ihre Unterwasserstädte zurückzogen
und die Oberfläche des Planeten den Naboo überliesen,
waren wilde Fambaas nahezu unbekannt auf Naboo. Mittlerweile
sind aber vor allem auf dem südlichen Kontinent immer
wieder kleinere Herden zu entdecken und ihr Gebrüll läßt
den Boden erbeben. |

make it a natural enemy of the Gungans and will attack any
percieved threat. |
