Contributing to age-old tension between the land-dwelling
Naboo and the Gungans is the martial nature of the amphibious
species. Although the Naboo do maintain a security force
made up of loyal volunteers, they do not have a standing
military force the size of the Gungan
Grand Army.
When the Naboo and the Gungans joined forces to repel the
Trade Federation invaders off their planet, the Grand Army
employed their unique alien arsenal in the battle.
Gungans employed a variety of muscle-powered weaponry to
deliver a specialized payload to their targets. Using the
plasmic energy found deep in Naboo's porous crust, the Gungans
have crafted a spherical grenade-type weapon they call a
"booma," or boomer. These grenades
are either thrown by hand, sling, or catapult. When they
hit their target, their protective shells burst, releasing
the liquid-like plasma and a powerful electric shock.
In addition to their boomers, Gungans also carry spears
and lances called electropoles. This polearms
can be used as missile weapons, or can be used as contact
weapons that deliver an electric jolt.
For defensive purposes, the Gungans have adapted their
hydrostatic bubble technology to form hand-held personal
shields. These ovoid frames project a defensive screen of
shield energy capable of deflecting blaster bolts back at
the firer. (starwars.com)

| AtlAtl
|
The Atlatl is used to throw energy balls.
It adds speed and power as an extension of a throwing arm,
allowing the user to hurl energy balls farther then with
just an unaided toss. If forced into close combat, the wielder
can use the atlatl as aclub. (SWRPG, revised core rulebook) |
| Battle wagon
|
Towed into combat by grumpy falumpasets are
organically grown Gungan battle wagons. These primitive
vehicles serve to resupply Gungan artillery pieces, like
their powerful catapults. In the thick of combat, General
Jar Jar Binks accidentally opened the cargo ramp of a fully
loaded battle wagon, spilling huge Gungan boomers (or boomas)
onto the battlefield. (starwars.com) |
| Bongo
|
Though the Gungans are naturally powerful
swimmers, they do rely on submersible vehicles to travel
the depths of Naboo's waters. One of their most striking
technological achievements is the Gungan bongo submarine.
Sporting the distinctive organic lines of Gungan technology,
the bongo's manta-shaped hull is organically grown through
secret Gungan techniques. Hydrostatic bubble shields keep
the cockpit and cargo areas dry and filled with air. A semi-rigid
assembly of tentacle-like fins spins to provide the bongo
with thrust. From a distance, the bongo resembles an exotic
Naboo squid or similar creature of the deep.(starwars.com)

| Energy catapult
|
Among the ground weapons used was this organically
crafted Gungan catapult. Having the same
"grown" look as the rest of Gungan technology,
the catapult was pulled into battle by slow but reliable
falumpaset beasts. When in place, the catapult hurled plasmic
energy balls -- or "boomas" as the Gungans call
them -- at the enemy.(starwars.com) |
